[ Again, the carefully constructed succession of expressions, from a frown to the squinting of her eyes, like his message has to be decoded before it fully goes through. That's it, really - the lag between all the little things, whereas with a normal person they would flow almost unnoticed. With a little pop, the straw drops from between her lips, and she continues. ]

[He quirks an eyebrow at that - it is off, the way she reacts. It's too...rehearsed. Maybe that's not the word. It's like seeing a computer that's loading up an answer to a question, and it certainly makes him wary. He may be millions of years old (or rather, half of him is) and he's likely not to back down before anyone, but still, the fact that he doesn't know what it all means unnerves him, slightly.]
